Organic Traffic Prediction: How Much Traffic Will I Get After 6 Months Of Professional SEO Services?

If you work with a digital marketing agency, you would have been asked by a client: "After using SEO services for a period of six months, how much traffic will I obtain?" Before you can make an accurate projection about the amount of traffic your client will get, you need to evaluate how much room there is for development. You will also need to develop a keyword prediction in addition to a ranking forecast that is based on the activities that are anticipated on the website. By sharing a forecast, you are quantifying your efforts and showing results the client is pleased to see as a return on investment. To get more clarity on how to predict organic traffic, we looked inward and asked our experienced team of in-house SEO experts how they deal with the question.

Our new and even existing clients often ask us to predict organic traffic growth for their website. Clients want to know at the beginning of the project how much traffic they'll be getting on their websites after 3-6 months of professional SEO services. So, what numbers to propose? How much percentage growth can be predicted? How to calculate, and with what data? While these are interesting queries, they are equally complicated to respond to.

We consulted our team of SEO experts on how they estimate growth and show how much traffic a site is likely to get in the next six to twelve months.

Below are their fascinating answers.

1. Our UI Developer on ‘How to predict organic traffic growth?’

I have been working with Envigo as a UI developer for the past three years. Sometimes clients require additional suggestions apart from the offered SEO services to set a traffic goal for their website. In order to predict organic growth for a particular client, I trust a SWOT analysis.

A SWOT analysis is a way to look at your company's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, which is where the acronym SWOT comes from. The Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis can help you figure out how your business is doing now and enable you to plan for its growth in the future.

a. What are the SEO strengths of your website?

Several pages include the content in question. The spectrum contains the keywords. Page-specific optimisations are made. There is a keyword ranking system in place for the website. In addition, there is access to backlinks.

b. What are the SEO weaknesses on your website?

There needs to be more content. There is still work to do in terms of on-page optimisation. The website must have a ranking. There are no references to any links.

c. What are the opportunities?

There is room to improve rankings through on-page optimisation techniques and fresh content. The company also offers a market gap analysis to help you get ahead of the competition.

d. What are the possible threats to the website?

There could be penalties on the website and some technical errors.

After analysing all the aspects, I project my clients' traffic for the upcoming 3-6 months and create a plan to achieve it. Traffic growth strategies mainly involve must-haves or essentials and add-on activities. In addition, new approaches that Google believes are most important to address must be included. But on the other hand, this will be impacted by forthcoming changes made by Google, like the Panda and Penguin Algorithms.

It's been a while since Google took a firmer stance against deceptive link-building tactics with the release of the Penguin algorithm. Although penalties are less prevalent now that the algorithm has been updated and integrated into Google's main algorithm in real-time, they still remain in several forms. You can avoid these penalties by following some steps. Click here to read more.

2. Our Senior SEO Analyst on ‘How important is keyword analysis for organic traffic?’

I have been working with Envigo as a senior SEO analyst for the past eight years. We can only drive traffic from search engines when they rank for keywords. Then, based on the ranking, we can predict the traffic numbers. An SEO audit of the site should be the first order of business.

Understand your client and their requirements from an SEO agency. Discover what SEO terms your client’s competitors are using, and try to include them alongside your own research. Formulate a strategy for search engine optimisation (SEO) that considers keyword analysis results. Include mobile-friendliness, content optimisation, Microdata Schema implementation, Advanced SEO internal deep linking, and links from high-DA websites.

3. Our SEO-Asst. Account Manager on ‘how to leverage on-page and off-page SEO optimisation?’

With 11+ years of experience in digital marketing with a specialisation in SEO services, I am accountable for all professional SEO services, including website analysis, technical recommendations, and performance tracking.

We focus on technical aspects first, then on-page factors like the content, and finally, off-page elements like links. We kick things off with a brief site analysis, considering several factors, including the following:

  • Domain Age: is this a brand new site, or has it been around for a while?
  • Competition: is competition high in this potential market?
  • Market segment: what kind of products or services does this website offer?
  • Mode of business: is the client an online retailer, or do they have a static site?

4. Our SEO Project Manager on ‘how to build effective marketing strategies?’

I am an experienced ṢEO expert with more than ten years of experience, in-depth expert-level knowledge across SEO channels, and good people management and leadership skills. My work is building and executing marketing strategies to reach prospective customers throughout their journey using a platform for SEO services using mostly an ROI-centric approach.

In my experience, organic traffic may be increased by releasing new material and updating existing sites regularly. The Google algorithm is set up to favour material that is both high-quality and useful to people. Depending on the topic, the type of business, and other factors, I recommend my clients build a content strategy, check for website updates and news, and increase guest blogging.

Proper keyword bucketing and an in-depth understanding of content intent analysis are crucial for directing the content team. The next step is to define the headings, subheadings, lists, tables, etc., that will make up the content layout. Using a call to action in the form of text, photos, buttons, links, etc., is essential for any enterprise SEO effort to succeed.

5. Our SEO Head on SEO essentials and site migration:

I have 10+ years of experience in digital marketing, with a high degree of expertise in Google Tech Manager, Google Analytics, and Search Engine Optimization. This is how I calculate while giving traffic predictions to a client.

I would need year-on-year (YOY) and month-on-month (MOM) data to make predictions. After that, I would create a plan to increase the traffic. For example, X number of tasks should be done in the first month, X number of tasks in the second month, and so on.

For a new site with SEO essentials done, we assume 100% growth. An essential SEO health check and implementation help to a greater extent in the case of an older website that needs to be optimised. At the same time, the strategy would differ for websites that are already optimised. For a recently migrated website, we need to check if the site migration was done successfully, if proper redirection was implemented, if there were any missing pages, and so on. Here are my pointers:

  • Examining traffic year over year and month over month
  • Target keywords' current ranks, search volume, and traffic trends
  • Specific events for traffic spikes or downturns, if noticed
  • Competition for the targeted keywords
  • Competitors' analysis
  • Content analysis
  • Links to the website
  • To increase traffic, we need to see the scope of making new pages, Schema Markup Implementation, AMP pages, citation of local links and local SEO

Along with all the ways for you to be able to predict your clients’ organic traffic, here is a bonus tip from our SEO Manager on ‘how to use visual content marketing as an SEO strategy?’

I am a digital marketing expert with seven years of experience. I engage with the client's corporate communication, IT, and marketing teams to understand business goals and market strategy.

It is common knowledge that with over 1.9 billion active logged-in users per month, YouTube is the world's second-largest search engine and most trafficked website! So why not start focusing on YouTube SEO for our businesses?

Let me take you through a few points that I analysed: Google gives video results from YouTube preferential treatment in its search engine results pages. Therefore, promoting YouTube channels should be part of our SEO strategy. A well-thought-out keyword strategy and optimising your channel are essential to a successful YouTube SEO campaign.

You can get more subscribers, views, and money from your videos with the proper YouTube SEO. To integrate our SEO plan, we must focus on SEO video marketing. This is why Youtube SEO is so important for businesses. Imagine the amount of reach you get with just a video on Youtube. There are other modes of visual content marketing that may help.

Our recommendations for SEO optimisation:

After consulting with our SEO specialists, we conclude that to provide a traffic projection, analyse the scope of improvement, and conduct the gap analysis between your client's website against their competitors’ (that is, content gap and link gap analysis), as well as provide a ranking projection based on the planned tasks.

You also need to make sure that you remember to examine the seasonal trends or the most recent developments in the industry. Since there are a lot of questions that still need to be answered, you should always make an effort to share multiple-point forecasts. The strategy that will yield the best results is to have a discussion not only about the most accurate estimates but also about the worst-case scenario and the best-case scenario. There is the possibility that a factor of uncertainty will be connected to each level or task, and there will also be room for error in these circumstances.
