Google has updated the documentation for its Lead Form assets, quietly removing a long-standing eligibility requirement that prevented smaller advertisers from accessing certain Lead Form experiences. The update, reflected in Google’s official Help documentation at support.google.com, also introduces new lead delivery options, clarifies data retention timelines, and expands country availability.
The most significant change is the removal of the $50,000 lifetime ad spend threshold. What was previously one of two routes to eligibility has been removed entirely from the documentation.
Previously, advertisers needed to meet one of two requirements to use Lead Forms in certain formats: spend more than $50,000 USD in Google Ads, or qualify as a reputable advertiser spending more than $1,000 per account, or $15,000 across accounts, and complete Advertiser Verification. The updated documentation removes the $50,000 lifetime spend requirement entirely. The only eligibility path now mentioned is the advertiser reputation and verification requirement.
For smaller advertisers who have been locked out of Lead Form experiences solely on the basis of cumulative spend, this change opens access to a lead generation format that was previously available only to higher-spending accounts.
Whether this reflects a confirmed product change or a documentation revision without a corresponding product update has not been formally confirmed by Google. The practical implication, if it is a product change, is that Lead Form assets become accessible to a significantly broader base of advertisers.
Google has simplified where Lead Form assets can be used. Previously supported across Search, Performance Max, Display, and Video campaigns in beta, the updated documentation lists only Search and Performance Max as supported campaign types. References to Video campaigns have been removed from the overview, while Display is no longer listed as a supported campaign type.
The consolidation narrows the inventory surface for Lead Forms but focuses it on the two campaign types where search intent is strongest, and where lead quality from native form interactions is most reliably tied to active consideration.
Google has expanded the documented methods for receiving leads. Newly documented options include email notifications and Zapier integration. These join existing delivery methods: CSV download, webhooks, and the Google Ads API.
The Zapier integration is the most practically significant addition for most advertisers. It provides a no-code route to connect Google Lead Form submissions directly to CRM platforms, marketing automation tools, and business applications, without requiring webhook configuration or API development work.
For smaller teams and agencies managing lead routing across multiple clients, Zapier connectivity lowers the technical overhead of integrating Lead Form data into existing workflows considerably.
Google’s updated documentation now explicitly states that manual CSV downloads are available for 30 days, Google stores lead data for 60 days, and API exports can access up to 60 days of lead data. Previously, the 60-day retention period was not clearly explained alongside manual downloads.
This clarification matters for advertisers who rely on manual CSV exports as their primary lead retrieval method. The 30-day window for manual downloads is shorter than the full data retention period, meaning leads submitted between days 31 and 60 are accessible only through the API or Zapier integration, not through manual download.
Advertisers using CSV exports on an irregular schedule risk missing leads that fall outside the 30-day download window. Setting up an automated export through Zapier or the API removes that risk entirely.
Google also refreshed how it describes Lead Form assets. The previous documentation focused on generating leads and increasing conversions. The updated version emphasises higher-quality leads, higher lead volume, easier implementation, and OTP verification for improving lead quality.
The addition of OTP, one-time password, verification as a lead quality mechanism is worth noting. Phone number verification at the point of form submission filters out invalid or low-intent submissions before they reach the advertiser, which directly affects the quality of the lead data flowing into CRM systems and follow-up workflows.
Google added more than two dozen additional countries where Lead Form assets are eligible, including Bahrain, Croatia, Estonia, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar, Serbia, Slovenia, and Tunisia.
For advertisers running campaigns across the Middle East, Southeast Europe, and North Africa, the expanded availability opens access to a native lead generation format that was previously unavailable in those markets.
The removal of the spend threshold, if confirmed as a product change, is the most consequential update in this documentation refresh. Lead Form assets have historically been one of the more effective native lead generation formats available in Google Ads, keeping users within the Google interface rather than directing them to an external landing page and removing a significant point of friction in the conversion process.
Advertisers who previously could not access Lead Forms due to the spend requirement should review the current eligibility documentation at support.google.com and verify their account’s qualification status under the updated requirements. Those already using Lead Forms should review the data retention timelines and consider whether their current lead retrieval method covers the full 60-day retention window or whether an automated integration would better capture available lead data.
