an alphabetical list of words relating to a specific subject, text, or dialect.
It is an XML which lists all the web pages of a website. It is used to provide a list of pages to Google, or other search engines, to crawl. A sitemap can be used to provide video, image, and mobile content URLs to Google.
Sitemaps are used to obtain important metadata about web pages, such as a page's importance compared to other URLs of the website, the rate at which the content of the page is refreshed, and when was the page last updated.
Upto 50,000 URLs can be listed in one sitemap.xml, with each sitemap having a size limit of 50MB. For more than 50,000 URLs, it is possible to create multiple sitemaps and a sitemap index file.
